Cancer and Careers’ Professional Development Micro-Grants enable cancer patients and survivors to obtain skills and knowledge to maintain their job, make a career change or job-shift, or advance in their work through professional development “training.” This includes, but is not limited to, courses, training, career coaching and conferences.
When applying for a grant, we recommend that you have a specific type of training in mind. If you are unsure what kind of training might help you achieve your work goals, we recommend that you Ask a Career Coach or consult a trusted mentor or peer.
In order to be eligible to receive a grant, you must:
- Be a cancer patient or survivor
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Not be currently enrolled in school
- Not previously received a micro-grant award.
Cancer and Careers micro-grants do NOT provide funding for:
- Undergraduate or graduate school tuition
- Travel expenses
- Business expenses
- Business investments
- Technology
- Personal expenses (such as rent, food, transportation, etc.)
Please note that in 2019, the micro-grants awarded ranged in amount from $50 to $1,000.

If you submitted an application, you will be notified by Friday, January 31, 2020, regarding the decision on your application.
