The Buffalo News reported that a local new anchor, Jacquie Walker, was diagnosed with breast cancer recently but plans on being back at work soon. The cancer was caught in early stages, and her plan is to take a few weeks off for treatment and before returning to the desk.Walker wrote an email about her diagnosis and time off, which the Channel 4 general manager shared with the rest of the staff so that they were aware what was going on.

In the statement Walker explained: “'To my colleagues here at Channel 4. I wanted to let you know why you are not seeing me in the newsroom this week. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and I am now being treated by the experts at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. I expect to return to work in a few weeks'"
